Meet Matt Stringer – Founder & Director
Matt founded Stringer Construct on Independence Day, a fitting coincidence that marked his own leap into independence and the beginning of a new chapter in his career. With roots in the construction industry dating back to 1997, Matt began as an assistant quantity surveyor at Redrow Homes. Over the years, he progressed through various roles, gaining hands-on experience and deep industry insight that now shape the foundation of Stringer Construct.
Beyond the business, Matt is a proud father of four and a lifelong football enthusiast—though these days, he plays at a more leisurely pace. His commitment to teamwork, integrity, and quality is reflected both on and off the field.
Mike – Senior Estimator
Joined the team: June 2023
Mike began his journey in the construction industry back in 1981 as a trainee carpenter. Over the decades, he’s built a diverse career, progressing through roles such as Contracts Manager and Quantity Surveyor before settling into his current position as a full-time Estimator. His deep understanding of projects from the ground up gives him a unique perspective when preparing accurate and competitive tender quotes.
Outside of work, Mike brings a touch of magic—literally—as an active member of the Bristol Society of Magicians. He’s also a regular at live music gigs, continuing a lifelong passion that began during his years as a mobile DJ.
Kevin Brooks – Contracts Manager
Joined the team: March 2024
With over 45 years in the construction industry, Kevin brings a wealth of experience that spans every sector - from hospitals and schools to refurbishment projects and new build housing. He began his career as a carpenter, honing his craft on-site before progressing into site management and now stepping into his current role as Contracts Manager at Stringer Construct.
Kevin is known for his steady leadership, attention to detail, and commitment to getting the job done right. He takes genuine pleasure in his work, especially in seeing a project through to completion and navigating all the nuances that come with it. His hands on background and broad project experience give him a practical solution approach to his job role.
When it’s time to unwind, Kevin turns to the things that keep him grounded: spending time with family and dogs, fishing, gardening and rugby.
He and his wife share a love for the sea. Whenever they get a chance, they charter a boat and explore the coastline . They've also sailed across much of Europe, discovering new places and enjoying the freedom of life on the water.
David Lees – Senior Quantity Surveyor
Joined the team: March 2025
Dave brings extensive experience and precision to his role as Senior Quantity Surveyor at Stringer Construct. With a strong background in cost management, project evaluation, and commercial oversight, Dave plays a key role in ensuring financial accuracy and value across all stages of construction.
Known for his methodical approach and attention to detail, Dave works closely with clients, contractors, and the wider team to deliver projects on time and within budget. His expertise helps maintain the high standards and reliability that Stringer Construct is known for.
Outside of work Dave is someone who enjoys staying active and making the most of life. He enoys playing football once a week, he swims four times a week, and loves going for long walks - as his running days are now behind him.
Music is a big part of his life, especially live music. He regularly attend festivals and has a soft spot for SKA, MOD, and Reggae. The Prodigy and The Stone Roses are among his favourites, but he also has a deep appreciation for 60s music.
Dave and his wife are also proud members of the National Trust and love exploring heritage sites and beautiful gardens across the UK. Travel is another passion, with the Maldives and Caribbean Islands topping their list of favourite places to unwind and recharge.
Noah – Assistant Quantity Surveyor & Estimator
Joined the team: July 2024
Noah is our Assistant Quantity Surveyor and Estimator. He is currently undertaking the Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management day-release course at UWE, proudly sponsored by Stringer Construct as part of our commitment to developing future talent.
Outside of work, Noah is a passionate football fan and enjoys playing the game himself—when he’s not travelling the country to support his team Bournemouth FC.
